Join your UMD students and colleagues Tuesday at 4:00 pm in Upper Senate Park in DC, where we’ll tell Congress: Kill the Cuts. UMD faculty and students will meet outside the turnstiles of the College Park Metro Station at 3 pm to travel to the rally. For those who want to meet us in DC, we will leave from the west side of Union Station at 3:45.
At this critical moment, faculty must speak out and show their collective power. Join colleagues from across the DMV and Maryland to show the politicians that you will not stand still while higher education is dismantled.
This rally is organized by Labor for Higher Education, a coalition of labor unions active in higher education, including AAUP, AFT, AFSCME, UAW, CWA, SEIU, NEA, UE, and Higher Education Labor United. We are building the coalition we will need to fight back effectively.
Whether you can come to the rally or not, you can contribute by coming to the sign-making art build on Monday 4/7 from 2 to 4 pm in 4105 Hornbake (not the main library entrance but the door to your right as you face the building).
Please circulate post, come to the event or the art build or both, and bring your friends. You can find more information at https://www.killthecuts.org/. Let’s get a large contingent of UMD faculty and students.
